Yungaburra was established in 1890, and was then known as Allumbah Pocket. In 1910 the village of Yungaburra took hold when the rail line and hotel were established, and since then, many of the buildings have existed unchanged, including Williams Lodge built in Dec 1911. Yungaburra has 28 Heritage listed buildings, making it the largest National Trust village in Queensland.
The Heritage Village of Yungaburra is nestled in a lush pocket of open rainforest, surrounded by many extinct volcanoes, crater lakes and waterfalls, 60 minutes drive from the coastal city of Cairns.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the coast, you will experience the cooler climate of the Atherton Tablelands, situated 720 metres(2500 ft) above sea level. The natural air conditioning makes Yungaburra a wonderful escape from humid coastal temperatures, where crackling log fires at night, village atmosphere and surrounding landscapes, make it an ideal destination.

Lake Tinaroo, Lake Eacham, Curtain Fig Tree and the Seven Sisters are also within a five kilometre radius of Williams Lodge.
